No, we are not an employment agency. We are a platform that connects hospitality businesses to hospitality professionals.
2. How does a company pay temp candidates/workers?
Minimum Wage & Overtime:
- Temporary workers must be paid at least the California minimum wage and receive applicable overtime pay just like permanent employees. State Regs Today
Pay Frequency:
- Temporary workers generally must be paid weekly (or daily for single-day assignments) by the Employer. California Labor Law.
Final Paychecks:
- If a temporary worker’s relationship with the employer ends, final wages are due immediately (or within 72 hours if they quit without notice).
3. What happens if an employer cancels a shift?
Under California law, if a non-exempt employee is scheduled to work and the shift is canceled or shortened without proper notice, the employer may be required to pay what’s called reporting time pay. This applies regardless of whether the worker is per diem, temporary, part-time, or full-time. CalDIR+1

Professional Hospitality Connections maintains active communication with both clients and candidates to address any personnel issues promptly. Candidates with repeated issues, as well as employers who mistreat workers or fail to provide proper payment, may be removed from our network to ensure professionalism and accountability.
